The Øresund Region is unique when it comes to research and production within the fields of Food and ICT. This strong fundament should assure that the region continues to be one of the leading in Europe when in comes to added value pr. employee in the food industry.

The focus area “Enabling Technologies” moves in the cross surface between the use of ICT and the production of food and beverages. By using new or excising technologies the production of food can become more safe, effective and flexible leading to a stronger competitiveness for the Øresund Regions food industry.

The Virtual Food Factory addressed some of the possibilities within the cross surface of food and ICT at a half day workshop in November 2007. The potentials of ICT and food in the future were highlighted and some concrete examples of technologies were shown – from the use of an electronic pen to low cost automation for SMEs.

The workshop gave the participants the possibility to do some networking activities in the beautiful surroundings of Turning Torso. This resulted in project proposals, business-business relations and the decision of making a network with focus on Business Intelligence.
